Welcome to my homepage and photos from sea and shore.
The beginning
It all started 2 years prior to when this image of me was taken by the then unknown photographer Jo Benkow, who later become President of the Norwegian Parliment.
This was my first maritime uniform - but I have had many more after that.
Next 15 years
I grow up in fantastic Norway, but born the year after war ended we learned to take care of every thing we could use more than once.....
But when I aged 15 - the adventurer in me took the control and I ended onboard my first ship, world wide...out of Rouen in France to Venezuela for oil cargo to New York USA - here you see my first American passport for sailors.
Tank ships
This is from my first tanker - M/T STABERG - she was a 20.000TDW crude oil tanker - sailing mostly between South America  - Curacao - and USA East coast.
On this ship I learned what a sailor life was like - and I stay onbord for 18 months.
Navy
After 5 years in the merchant marine i had to be a man of war - and enlisted 
The Royal Norwegian Navy for 16 months. Most of the time on a new frigate named NARVIK . we had a swell time and travel from Spitsbergen in North to Napoli in Italy  in South  - -- -
Cruise
After Navy service I started the education to be a Navigation officer - and ended up in this wonderful fleet of cruise liners - sailing the Caribbean seas.
Caribbean summers
We young officers was "tender" drivers - ferry passenger in to ports where it was to shallow for the ship - this was wonderful days with "summer" days along.
Pleasure
Here is from the Capt.table - which they do not have on the modern liners to day - I was lucky to have experienced the high light of sea - in the 1960 - 70 and 80´s - before the threat of terror and highjacking took control of the free world.
Postludium
This was a short story about me - because the intention for this homepage is to be photos and photography - by me a happy amateur with passion for imaging things thru the photo lens.
And here you see me, a old sailor between my good friend and son in law and my aunt Gerd - who unfortunately passed away after the picture was taken - but to her honor, now she is on INTERNETT.
